📘 Facebook Video Downloader

Facebook streams its HD videos with the picture and sound in separate files, which is why many downloaders only give you low quality or silent clips. MultiDownloader merges both streams on the server with ffmpeg, so the file you save is a normal MP4 with full audio — up to 1080p Full HD.

The downloader works with every kind of public Facebook video: regular page and profile videos, Facebook Reels, videos shared in public groups and short fb.watch links. Private videos and content inside closed groups cannot be downloaded because they require a login.

Which Facebook link formats work

Facebook has changed its URL scheme many times over the years, and old links still circulate. All of the common shapes below are accepted — you never need to convert a link by hand before pasting it.

Choosing the right quality

The quality list shows what Facebook actually stored for that specific upload — not a fixed menu. A video filmed on an old phone and uploaded in 480p will never offer a real 1080p option, and no downloader can invent detail that was never there. Pick 1080p when you want to keep the video for editing or watching on a large screen, 720p as the practical middle ground for phones, and SD when you care more about file size than sharpness.

Rows marked as HD are the ones our server has to assemble. Facebook keeps that video track without any sound, so we fetch the matching audio track and mux the two together before the file reaches you. That is the reason an HD download pauses for 10–30 seconds before it starts — nothing is stuck, and the wait does not reduce quality.

Downloading on a phone

• Android: the MP4 lands in your Downloads folder. Most gallery apps pick it up within a minute; if it does not appear, open the file from the browser's download list once and it gets indexed.
• iPhone / iPad: Safari saves the file to the Files app rather than Photos. Open Files → Downloads, tap the video, then use Share → Save Video to move it into your camera roll.
• Facebook's in-app browser: if you opened this page from inside the Facebook app, downloads are often blocked by the app itself. Tap the three dots and choose Open in browser first.

When a Facebook download fails

Almost every failure comes down to access rather than a bug. Working through this list solves the large majority of cases:

• The post is private or friends-only. Open the link in a browser where you are logged out — if you cannot see the video there, neither can our server.
• It lives in a closed group. Group content requires membership, so it cannot be fetched.
• The video is age-restricted. These need a signed-in account and are refused.
• You pasted a profile or photo link. Make sure the link points at a video post, not the page it sits on.
• The post was deleted. Links outlive the content they point to more often than people expect.
• It is a live stream still in progress. Wait until the broadcast ends and Facebook has published the replay.

Copyright and fair use

Downloading a video does not transfer any rights to it. Saving a clip to watch offline, keeping a copy of something you posted yourself, or archiving a video you have permission to use are ordinary uses. Re-uploading somebody else's video as your own, or using it commercially without a licence, is not — and remains the responsibility of whoever downloads it.
